Following November’s successful ‘Free Bulky Items’ collections trial, we will be providing free skips for bulky household items in community locations around Walsall during January, February and March.
The Community Skip Days Trial will run from Saturday 19 January to Saturday 23 March 2019. Skips will be provided at two different locations each Saturday, dates and times of the skip locations can be found here.
Walsall residents can take bulky household items to any of the free skip locations. Up to three items can be disposed of, including furniture, mattresses, fridges, other white goods or any item we would remove via the bulky collection service. A full list of acceptable items can be found on our bulky collections page.
Visits must be pre-booked and the trial is limited to one skip visit per household during the trial.
Booking your skip day visit:
From Monday 14 January 2019 residents can call 01922 653355 to make a booking. Along with your name and address, you will be asked for the registration of the vehicle you will be using and the items you will be bringing. You may walk or carry your items to the skip if they are small enough for you to do so.
The Community Skip Days are for Walsall residents bringing bulky items from their own homes only. We cannot accept any business or commercial waste.
Bookings are made on a first-come, first-served basis. Last bookings will be taken at 1pm on the Friday preceding the Skip Day.
Bringing your bulky items to the Community Skip Day:
You must bring the following with you to the skip day;
Proof you are a Walsall resident (such as your driving licence or a bill showing your address).
Your booking number (you will be given this when you make the booking).
Only the items stated on your booking will be accepted.
If you are unable to book a skip day, items may be taken to either of the two Household Waste Recycling Centres (Tips) in Bloxwich or Aldridge free of charge.
Alternatively you may use the Bulky Item collection service. For a small fee we will collect unwanted bulky household items from your property. Bulky collections can be booked on 01922 653344.
Unauthorised waste left at the Community Skip Day locations will be treated as fly-tipping and appropriate enforcement action taken.
Community Skip Days are the second of three Council Cabinet backed trials to help reduce fly tipping across Walsall. Walsall Council investigates cases of fly tipping and perpetrators can expect an unlimited fine or up to 5 years in prison. The third trial, changes to tip opening hours, will take place in Spring 2019
